OTA/OTTA/Orogenesis Fugrass Campout

Fuji Mountain & Bunchgrass Campout Trail Work Weekend

August 1–2, 2026

Let's make trail history together.

We're incredibly excited to invite you to an overnight trail work campout on August 1–2, 2026, in partnership with Oregon Timber Trail Alliance, Oakridge Trails Alliance, and Orogenesis.

Before anything else, we want to recognize Oregon Timber Trail Alliance. This project exists because of OTTA's original vision and years of persistence to make this connection happen. They have championed this corridor from the very beginning, and we're honored to help bring it to life alongside them.

For two days and one night, volunteers will camp near Scott Taylor Lake while helping build the Fuji Mountain/Bunchgrass Connector (FUGRASS), the final missing link connecting the Fuji Mountain and Bunchgrass trail systems.

Once complete, this new section of singletrack will create a seamless backcountry connection between two of Oakridge's most iconic riding and hiking destinations, fulfilling a vision that has been years in the making. It will also become an important link within both the Oregon Timber Trail and the Orogenesisroute, connecting riders and hikers through some of Oregon's most spectacular backcountry.

This landscape has been traveled and cared for by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial and later by generations of explorers, workers, and recreationists. Soon, thanks to the work of volunteers, it will offer a new way for people to experience this incredible place.

Now we need your help to finish it.

Every foot of trail built this weekend brings us one step closer to opening a connection that volunteers have dreamed about for years. This is more than a trail work party. It's a chance to spend a weekend in the mountains, camp beside the trail you're helping build, share meals around camp, and leave knowing you've helped shape the future of recreation in Oakridge for generations to come.

Space is limited so we can safely manage work crews, tools, meals, and camping logistics.

Want to be part of the fun but trail work isn't your thing?

There are plenty of ways to help make this weekend a success! Not every volunteer has to swing a tool.

If you love baking, we'd happily accept a batch of your famous cookies or other treats to keep our crews fueled.

Other ways you can help include:

  • Sharpening and maintaining trail tools before the weekend

  • Helping with camp setup or cleanup

  • Assisting with meal preparation or serving food

  • Hauling water, firewood, or supplies around camp

  • Checking volunteers in and helping with registration

  • Taking photos throughout the weekend

  • Driving supplies to camp or helping with logistics

  • Keeping the snack table stocked

  • Helping pack up camp on Sunday

  • Donating snacks, drinks, or breakfast items for volunteers

Every contribution, big or small, helps make weekends like this possible. If you'd like to lend a hand in another way, we'd love to hear from you! Reach out to Alexandria.Boyd@oakridgetrailsalliance.org, and we'll help find a role that's a great fit.
